Hair Temptations

January 31st, 2012
How many of us have given up on our New Years Resolutions already? Some surveys reckon that the most of us give them about two weeks of our best efforts before skulking off to the fridge/smoking area/pub, throwing caution to the wind!

What is it about will power that is so hard to master? Sometimes it seems we have little to none when it comes to our hair as well. As much as we would love you all to do an intensive hair mask every week, or have those split ends snipped every 4-6 weeks, we appreciate sometimes life gets in the way.

However if ever there were a time to invest some time in your hair, it would be now! After December’s festivities, and January’s bleak nature, your hair can be left dull and limp.

To help you out why not go for low maintenance looks? The tousled bed head look is set to be huge for Spring/Summer, and is an easy wearable style. The key to 2012 is simplicity, which is also an incredibly youthful sentiment. By having minimalist hair, it is immediately transported back a decade!

Leave the straighteners alone for this look, it is about recreating the serrated straight hair of the 1990’s, with layers and razored ends. Add some product for separation and texture, and viola, easy sexy hair.

Another easy update for hair is a change of parting! Get on the side lines of hair, and get those locks flipped over. Side partings are softer, and flatter most face shapes, and are a great solution to the age-old growing-out-the-fringe dilemma!

Embrace your roots! If your dye is growing out, work with it, as the ombré style is still hot in 2012! Lighten the ends, for a sun kissed effect.

So, there you have it, easy low maintenance updates, no reason to give up on your hair just yet!

Hair to the Rescue

December 16th, 2011

Winter brings with it so many lovely dates to look forward to and get excited about. It is full of merryment, enjoyment and joyous occasions, as the saying goes, tis the season!

However the aforementioned season also has a darker side to it’s delightful arrival. It bargains all the fun with various elements of collateral. Chapped lips, dank, lank hair, and dry skin are but three of the outcomes to Winter’s favourite weather forecast; wet, windy and cold! Our outer selves suffer at the hands of winter it has to be said, so what can we arm ourselves with to combat this?

Us Angels know the secrets, fear not! We can provide you with the means to battle and win back your fabulous self!

Rescue remedies come in various forms, and at Angels we don’t believe you have to break the bank to achieve them! It is often the tips and advice garnered from generations of hair stylists that last the distance, and as our valued customers, we can share them with you.

Rum Cocktail! One of our favourites when we’re dancing the night away, but also a treat for the locks. Rum is an amazing remedy for oily deposits found on hair and scalp, and leaves hair feeling baby-fine and super soft to touch! Here comes the science, (of sorts!) take 50 ml white rum, 100 ml beer, 2 eggs, 1/2 a teaspoon lemon extract, 100 ml warm water and blend them all together. Massage into the scalp and leave for five minutes, rinse off and wash with your normal shampoo and conditioner. This batch makes enough for a few treatments, so store in the fridge, but discard after five days.

A simple scalp massage is heaven for us Angels. It releases tension you weren’t even aware of, and boosts circulation, which in turn boosts blood flow to the hair follicles, aiding overall hair health. A good scalp massage should be firm, amazingly this motion can help scalp conditions, from dry damaged hair to flaking and psoriasis, hair thinning and loss.

If you are under pressure from Grandfather time, a quick fix is mashing avocado with olive oil, applying it to the hair, waiting for five minutes, and rinsing. The oils provide a moisture seal, and act as the most luxurious conditioner. It will nourish and rehydrate with ease!

These tips can give you the edge against the elements, leaving you free to enjoy yourself to your upmost! Grab the mistletoe!

Bid Au Revoir to Bad Hair Days

December 2nd, 2011

How many times have you looked in the mirror and despaired that your hair is running amok, a law unto itself, refusing to bend to your will!

A new survey reveals that 20 per cent of women go as far as to cancel nights out because of unruly locks! So what can Angels do to remedy this? Fortunately help comes in the form of one of autumn/winters hottest trends, the sleek up ‘do.

Seen everywhere on the catwalks, this style offers high impact glamour, whilst taming your hair into submission. Perfect for the swiftly approaching party season, allow Angels to tease your hair into a style of your choice, choose from the perfect high pony, a flirty ballerina bun or a neat side swept twisted chignon.

The great thing about these looks is they can be as neat or as ‘out there’ as you like. One great look that was seen on the catwalk was a slick pony that exploded in a crimped eruption at the tie. The juxtaposition of these two textures make a great impact and take the up ‘do to a new level. However if you would rather air on the side of caution, keeping things sleek is always a winner. Pair this with a dramatic splash of colour in your makeup be it on your eyes, or mouth this look screams glamourpuss.

The Angels team pride themselves on offering the very best and latest in trends and fashions, keeping your finger on the pulse effortlessly!

ANGELS’ FLYING HIGH

November 24th, 2011

The ever-inventive founder of Aberdeen’s award-winning Angels salons, Tracey Devine, has come up with yet another brilliant high flying idea – the Angels HAIR MILES LOYALTY CLUB.

Ready for take off in time for Christmas, HAIR MILES is Angels’ very own loyalty card scheme, similar to the type of advantage card offered by many nationwide high street retailers.

HAIR MILES will be offered to clients who visit the salon three-plus times. Each card has an individual number and its owner simply presents the card at reception each time they visit the salon to be rewarded with loyalty points, redeemable against salon services, retail products and gift vouchers.

There will also be a special HAIR MILES LOYALTY CLUB page on Angels’ website, where card holders will punch in their number to access a range of special offers, presented as downloadable vouchers to be redeemed at local shops and suppliers.

“The aim of HAIR MILES is to reward our long standing clients and to ensure new ones remain loyal, encouraging them to return to the salon more often,” explains Tracey. “And the data we capture from clients’ answers when completing a HAIR MILES membership form gives us great insights into their lifestyles, likes, tastes, preferences etc.

“So from a marketing point of view, we can tailor our offers and promotions to totally suit our clientele. For example, we’re currently looking at offering 20% off a visit to Malmaison and 25% off a bouquet of flowers at a local top florist. But we may find we’re able to pinpoint really specific offers which are more relevant to our core clientele. At the moment we’re working with ShortCuts, our in-salon software provider on all the logistics – so we’ll be ready to announce HAIR MILES take off time very soon!
